Hetzner Cloud costs before the invoice

Simple Rackpulse estimates what each Hetzner Cloud project has cost so far this month, and what it will cost by the end of the month. Set a budget and get an alert when the forecast goes over it.

How the estimate works

For each resource, Rackpulse takes Hetzner's list price for its type and location and the hours it has existed this month. Hourly prices are multiplied by the hours. Each resource is capped at its monthly price, as Hetzner bills it. The forecast does the same up to the last hour of the month.

• Included: servers, server backups, volumes, primary IPs, floating IPs, and load balancers.
• Your own price: for a server still on an older Hetzner price, enter the monthly price you pay in Settings, on the project's page, under Costs. Rackpulse then uses it for the month's cost, the forecast, and the budget alert. The server page shows which price it uses.
• Not included: credits and traffic above the included amount. Hetzner has no billing API, so Rackpulse can't read them. VAT is added only when you choose prices with VAT in Settings.

Budgets per project

Set a monthly budget for a project. When the forecast for the month goes above it, Rackpulse sends a notification, for example "Forecast is above your monthly budget". The alert is based on the forecast, so it arrives while there is still time to act.

Idle spend

Some resources bill while they do nothing. Rackpulse lists them apart from the rest:

• Servers that are stopped but still billed.
• Volumes that are not attached to a server.
• IP addresses that nothing uses.

All projects in one place

The Costs tab shows each project you added, with the month to date, the forecast, and the cost of each resource. The menu bar can show this month's cost for all projects next to the status dot.
